Hollow Tree: Notes of Western Red Cedar

A Stanley park landmark, the western red cedar, Thuja Plicata, once stood for over 800 years. “Cedar are sensitive to change of time and light – sometimes their boughs flop heavy, and sometimes they float, then are fairy as ferns, and then they droop, heavy as heartaches.” – Emily Carr
