Long time friends and business partners, Andrea Becir and Laura Shovlain took ownership of Ambiente - South Surrey in the Fall of 2013.

After first meeting while completing their BAs in Psychology at UBC, Andrea and Laura both ended up living in Tsawwassen and working at the original Ambiente location founded by Jutta Rapp. As their friendship grew, each pursued design in their own way: Andrea managed the Tsawwassen Ambiente location, and started her own business in home staging. Laura completed the Interior Design certificate program at BCIT while working at Ambiente and in financial services. Following this, Andrea and Laura started working together in the interior design field as La Di Da Redesign and Home Staging. When Jutta presented the opportunity to acquire Ambiente in South Surrey, they felt it was meant to be!

​Though they no longer take on design projects, Laura and Andrea continue to pour their skills, experience and hearts into making Ambiente the go-to gift and home decor shop in South Surrey! Andrea and Laura can be found at the store most days of the week — with the help of amazing staff who are also sure to be familiar faces to our long time customers.

As business owners, you do a little and a lot of everything! Andrea is the Buyer and Visual Merchandiser; sourcing the array of unique products and creating inspiring store displays. Laura manages store Marketing and HR; creating daily content for social media and running the website and online shop. We are so excited to have launched our online store, and look forward to expanding our offerings!
